The Jayne
‘The Jayne’ is a fully hollow electric guitar inspired by budget guitars from the 1950s and 60s. This model captures the aesthetic and vibe of those quirky old guitars, but introduces an entirely new tonal palate with innovative reverse X-bracing and layered side construction. Named for the middle name of my second daughter, ‘The Jayne’ will charm you with nuance and character that you didn’t know an electric guitar could have.
Curtis Novak Gold Foil Pickups
They look amazing, and they sound even better. These pickups are perfectly microphonic - which allows the full tonal characteristics of this guitar to come through.
Block inlays, fully bound fingerboard
Keeps the look vintage correct with celluloid pearloid block inlays, Black/white purfling lines, and white celluloid nitrate binding.
Full body sunburst
Back and sides and neck finished in a tobacco sunburst with nitrocellulose lacquer.
Solid sitka Spruce Top with X-bracing
The flat top is braced on the inside like an acoustic guitar, although the top is intentionally built thicker and stiffer than you would want an acoustic to be. The small maple bridge plate also provides an excellent location for a K&K Pickup to be added (which is optional). Built like an acoustic, but voiced as an electric.
italian celluloid nitrate tortoise
Handmade and lovingly beveled and buffed, this pickguard material is unmatched by any other imitations.
Layered sides
Thin layers maple and birch are sandwiched together to make the sides incredibly stable and strong. Vaccuum moulded and manufactured in-house.
Recessed neck ferrules
The neck is fastened with a familiar trio of recessed bolts. Neat and clean
Trapeze Tailpiece + Floating bridge
Shop-made Indian rosewood bridge, compensated for perfect intonation and locked into location by hidden 1/8” index pins. Strum as hard as you’d like, this bridge ain’t sliding around on you!
Back Bracing
3 fat tone bars on the back make the guitar structurally sound while also keeping the back from vibrating too freely. (Those skinny dowels are temporary… they get removed after the top is glued on)
